@SHL let things settle down. The weather here is awfully hot right now and as you know we don’t have AC in this part of the world. So you better plan your vacation for next winter. Have you ever been in Germany in December? All over Central Europe there are nice Christmas markets and there is a special atmosphere. I quite love it.
As for Hawaii, I never have been there, but my sister went hiking and camping, walking along the seashore of the islands and she liked it. She is the outdoor type and hiked in the most incredible places, all over the world. Personally, I only got interested in Hawaii when I read that Obama’s mother came from there.
I‘m not sure Obama‘s mother came from Hawaii (it’s possible, I just heard he was born there). And, it is true. Hawaii is really more for the outdoors type people who like to explore nature.
Yes, last night was the first time I heard that the Summer heat was finally hitting Europe. I even saw a few temperatures around Germany in the 33C range, which is how I remember Germany in the Summers from 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. But, this year seemed a lot cooler than I expected. It’s only now that things are hearing up. Yet, I returned to the States on August 2 of 2019, and it was hot then too. But, the entire month of July was pretty miserable, heat-wise. We’ve got the same temperatures in the Summer only with dry heat, not that that matters, since it’s all bad past a certain point. But, we’re more prepared for it, so every house and apartment built after about the late 1960s has A/C. San Francisco might be an exception because it never gets much over 25C over there. I couldn’t imagine living without it. It would be no different than having no heat on the Winter.
I had thought about vacationing in Germany in the Winter, just to experience the change in seasons, and would love to, but with this corona thing, it’s hard to say when that will ever be possible. I read about some Germans protesting in Berlin about wearing masks and claiming corona was all a hoax and fake. Conspiracy theorists. People thinking like that are likely to cause a rebound of the pandemic in Europe.
