My mum was telling me about the way she used to communicate with Spanish tourists when we lived in the centre of Prague. She speaks Italian so she would adjust her words slightly to make them sound more Spanish. She compared it to having a speech impediment where you say "sh" instead of "s". It makes me wonder if they would have understood her anyway and this way they just thought she had a speech impediment  :D
