But one thing I often get confused when people from the West say that they live in the valley. I mean there should be village(s) in a valley, right? Or the word valley is used in place of village? Could someone shed some light on this matter?
To live in the valley? Never heard that. We say “we live up in the mountains or near a lake or the seashore”.
There are several valleys everywhere in he world so what would be THE valley? No idea. Antonomasia But I’m not anglophone. So others on this board will give you a proper answer.
